Inexpensive Wedding Reception
Inexpensive wedding reception options are available. There are several ways to reduce your costs. Be flexible, open-minded and do your research. Here are some tips to help you.
When Is The Wedding?
There are certain times of the year that are more popular than others are and thus will cost more money for your reception. Most venues charge a higher price during the month of June and during certain holidays such as Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day. Talk to different venues before you set your wedding date and see what is available and what the costs are. If you have a specific period in mind, there are still ways you can have an inexpensive wedding reception in spite of the higher cost of booking the venue.
Be Open Minded about Your Venue
If you want a cheap reception, you need to be open to different types of venues. Hotels are likely to be the highest priced venues for wedding receptions at any time of the year. If you do not plan to serve alcohol, you may be able to save money by booking your reception in your church's social hall. Not only is it likely to save you money but you will also save the cost of driving from the church to the venue. Fire halls, union halls and private clubs are other venues that may be less expensive than a hotel. Do look into the restrictions at each of these facilities. The cheapest venue with the least amount of restrictions is outside! |
Choose a Buffet Instead of Table Service
The items you choose for your menu will add to the cost of your reception but so will the type of service you choose. Buffet service is always less expensive than table service and in most cases the bridal table will still receive table service for their initial serving of the menu. Most venues have a variety of items from which you can choose even for a buffet reception. You can have an inexpensive reception by choosing the items with the lowest cost. Open bar will be more expensive than cash bar and is a very common practice at wedding receptions especially when there are under age guests as well as adults. These tips will save you money. Be flexible, open and most importantly find out what is available across the board. |
